Château Pavie

Château Pavie

Located on the Right Bank, in the commune of Saint-Émilion, sits the venerable and inimitable estate of Château Pavie. While the estate has a long history (its slopes were first planted to vine by the Romans in the 4th century), it wasn’t until relatively recently that Château Pavie fully realized its super star potential. Purchased by Gerard and Chantal Perse in 1998, the estate enjoyed a renaissance of sorts, with the Perse family sparing no expense in the renovations of both the Château and its winemaking facilities. This paid off in 2012 when the Château was elevated to Premier Grand Cru Classé A status, (the highest in Saint-Émilion), making it one of only 4 estates to hold that significance. It is now the most modern, state of the art, and grandiose estate in Saint-Émilion. Its splendor is only matched by its uniqueness; Château Pavie is the largest estate in Saint-Émilion and, more importantly, its vineyards boast the highest elevation in the commune, offering excellent drainage for its vines. This, along with heavy pruning and low yields, translates into wines of astounding depth and concentration, with the ability to age for decades. Planted to 50% Merlot, 30% Cab Franc, and 20% Cab Sauv, Château Pavie is most certainly in the pantheon of the best wines in the world.
